The Parent Council is here to work with the school to improve the experience of your children at Craigmount and to represent the views of parents.
We get involved in discussions on many issues, but typical ones include
- Curriculum and the implementation of Curriculum for Excellence
- Impact of budget cuts
- School Improvement Plan
- Review of report from Head Teacher
We can only represent you if you are actively involved in the life of the school. You can get involved by:
- Checking the Parent Council page on the website and sending us an email if you have a query;
- Attending parents evening and other events for parents and speaking to one of us;
- Coming along to a meeting as an observer without any commitment to join;
- Supporting fundraising by buying a quiz or helping at an event such as The Corstorphine Fair scheduled for June 2021;
- Joining the Parent Council and coming along to any of 7 meetings a year (usually on a Monday evening).
You may already know one of us in which case feel free to raise any issues with them or by sending an email to email@example.com . We used to list the people on the council, but following a significant increase in attendance while we hold online meetings, the list here has been suspended.

The Head Teacher and other teaching staff attend the meetings. New members are welcome to join at any time. Some local councillors attend and our local MP and MSP are invited and receive minutes.
If you want to contact the parent council then please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, you can contact the school who will forward your request to the council.
We meet 2 or 3 times each term, usually on Monday evenings. In the past these meetings were in the school, but at present we are meeting on-line with a Teams link sent out to registered parents and community members.
The next meeting will be held on-line at 7.00pm on October 5th. If you are already on the parent council email list then you will be sent a Teams link for this meeting, along with the agenda and other papers.

If you are interested in joining the council then please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Membership is open to all parents/carers and you are most welcome to attend a meeting, either to observe or with a view to joining.

Our most recent AGM was held online on Thursday 25th June 2020 via Teams. At this meeting we reviewed the work of the parent council over the past year, said our farewell and thanks to Tom Rae for his work as Head Teacher and appointed officers for 2020/21.
Minutes for this meeting will be published here once they have been approved at the next parent council meeting (due late August/early September 2020).
