As this will be the last Head Teacher’s update for 2020, I cannot help but think on what a year it has been. The challenges we have had to overcome and those that still lie ahead. As 2021 (and the hope it brings) approaches I want to wish everyone in our community a wonderful Christmas and fantastic New Year.
Creativity at Craigmount
A message from the Music Department at Craigmount, in particular: Millie Mitchell.
“I am delighted to say that our version of Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ is now live! The link is as follows: https://youtu.be/CcC4zWuUvz8.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank every single person that has contributed to the project and supported the department as we have ventured into the world of virtual concerts. It’s not quite the same as a full-blown Christmas concert, and I’m amazed by the talent, hard work and resilience of the pupils and staff; this video stands testament to that.
Despite this being one of the toughest terms for everyone, I hope this video brings a smile to your faces and is a small celebration of the wonderful work that goes on at Craigmount.”
Congratulations to all that contributed and a special note of thanks to Millie and the great work she undertook in bringing this together!

Congratulations to 1S2 for being top of the league over the holidays!
The question is, will they make it to the end of the tournament in this position?!?!
Cyber Security – a message from the Computing Department
Yesterday (Thursday 17th Dec) several of our S4/5 students who study Computing Science/Cyber Security (virtually) attended the annual Christmas Computing Science lecture series. Students had a great time participating and gained a lot of great knowledge about future career paths in the sector and how to keep themselves and others safe online.
More success at Craigmount
The following 29, S3 FCT students received their Elementary Food Hygiene Certificates last week awarded by The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland. The students worked really hard over lockdown completing the course and were able to then sit the exam on return to school. It is recognised the hard work students put in to learning the course content during remote learning and the FCT department are very proud of their achievements. The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene certificate is levelled at Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at level 5 and awarded 1 credit.
