This has been another eventful week in the lead up to the October break. Please find an update relating to several different aspects of our school.
Celebration of 2019-20
During the month of September, Craigmount usually hosts an event to celebrate the successes and achievements of the last academic year. We recognise that this important event cannot take place as in previous years, there will be a virtual celebration after the October break – watch this space!
Health & Safety
Please note, that if your child does have a COVID test and it is positive, a reminder to contact the school immediately during normal school hours. If you receive the test result out of hours, please contact 0131 200 2000. Many thanks for your cooperation with this.
As we wait for the tighter restrictions to influence the transmission rate you will be aware that we have had three confirmed cases. For privacy reasons we cannot disclose any individual details relating to these cases. I would like to thank the individuals involved as their vigilance and adherence to the health & safety guidelines have meant minimal disruption to our community. Please note that we will notify the parent body for each confirmed occurrence.
UCAS – Personal Statement
We hope that our S6 are making good progress through their UCAS applications. Their first draft should be completed by Tuesday 27 October to allow Pupil Support Leaders to support pupils in making any necessary amendments prior to the final deadline in December.
Good luck to those applying to Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Oxbridge whose applications were finalised and submitted this week.
Trace and Protect app (repeat notice 2nd October 2020)
Please see this update from the City of Edinburgh Council regarding the Trace and Protect app. With increasing numbers of reported cases, this tool can give you an early warning and help stop the spread of coronavirus.
This has been a strange term with changing situations and challenges. When I walk round the school and witness the learning that is happening, I am always honoured to be part of this community. The work and effort that staff are investing in your child’s experience is humbling: as is the way your child responds and engages with the lessons.
I hope you and your loved ones stay safe, healthy and happy. All the best, and we look forward to seeing our learners back in school on Tuesday 27th October 2020.
