I hope you are well. I want to start by thanking Calum and Aina in the new S6 for delivering the first ever “Craigietalks”. This initiative was planned after they took part in a senor student conference for all Scotland’s schools early this year. They returned with the idea of seniors offering supportive filmed talks for other students, especially S1. The themes today cover S1 transition, and tips on mental health during the current situation. The advice they offer is really supportive and helpful and I want to acknowledge their excellent contribution. The advice for S1 is even more important now that transition is taking a different form.
Mrs Stevens ( CL Science/Biology) has asked me to share the following information. Please note that these suggestions are for those who are interested and not in any way an expectation for all.
Pathways into Medicine
A ‘Pathways into Medicine’ event with a local GP and ex CHS student was due to take place this term. This event has been postponed until later in the year. In the meantime, you may be interested in registering for this initiative. It is a free interactive video platform providing insights into the role of a GP and the wider primary care team. Please contact your science teacher if you are interested.
Immune Response Competition
Do you need a challenge? Interested in health and the immune
system? Why not try this competition?
Your task is to design a social media page to explain how vaccines work – very topical!
The deadline has been extended to the 31st of October. It is open to students in S1, 2, 3 and 4.
