I want to focus on a couple of aspects of the online learning in this post. Mr Pye is leading in this area and has now posted examples of 5-period-day timetables for 1-2 and S3 students on the Remote Learning page of the website. This offers a plan for what a typical day might look like and can be used flexibly and adapted so that different subjects are covered on different days. In between the fifty minute subject periods, other activities related to wellbeing or fun activities could take place. Our Pupil Support Leaders are sharing weekly a wellbeing activity. Our House Tutor Group teachers are also now becoming involved in this pupil support wellbeing initiative. Please encourage students to engage with this. There are links to wellbeing sites on the remote page as well. I also want to flag up the Maths Competition for S1-2 students that has been taking place. The deadline for entries is noon today. Maths staff have been communicating details of this to students through Teams.
Faculties will also be setting tasks for senior school students to undertake in the period leading up to the change of timetable on May 11th. With the cancellation of exams, the now redundant exam leave period can be best used to work on tasks that consolidate key concepts and help to prepare for the new courses ahead. House teams will also be contacting senior students with details of support through Scholar. This is a really helpful interactive site which we use every year with senior students. During the closure access is open. Here is the link: https://scholar.hw.ac.uk/news.html#latest-news
Finally, House Teams are promoting details of apprenticeship opportunities which have just come in. Please also see the instrumental music service news on the Drama/Music landing page of remote Learning. Instrumental Music Instructors will now be contacting students by email and plan to continue to support. An email to all students will also be sent out about this so please ask them to check email and respond.
Have a good weekend. Stay Safe.
