S1-3 Remote Learning Health, Wellbeing & PE Packs

Important information regarding PE Kit:
The Physical Education Department would like to highlight their expectations around kit and participation in classes.
We expect:
- A change of top
- A change of bottoms (joggers, shorts, leggings – these must be different from those worn to school)
- A change of jumper if required (no school jumpers that are worn in class to be used)
- Any long hair will be required to be tied up
- No mobile phones (unless teacher is allowing use in class for L&T purposes)
- Only water will be permitted to be consumed in class
The PE Department aspire to engage all students within Physical Activity and/or Sport in line with Government expectations of a minimum of 2 hours per week. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if support is required.
Broad General Education (BGE)
S1 – Movement skills and competencies
S2 – Cooperation and competition
S3 – Evaluating and appreciating

These are the Significant Aspects of Learning and they are developed throughout our BGE phase and beyond. The Personal Qualities and Cognitive Skills in particular are prevalent throughout the wider school curriculum.
National Qualifications
S3 – Elective course – Fast track course for National 4 and 5.
National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher.
These courses are focussed on 2 units. A practical unit looking at Performance Skills and a theoretical unit looking at the Factors Impacting Performance. Students can see the outcomes they are covering and the course assessment details in the classroom displays. Leadership course
2 Periods per week. Students will develop leadership skills and work towards SCQF Level 5 or 6.
Dance
Dance also features as a stand alone subject within the Physical Education faculty. Details can be found below.
Extra Curricular Activities
Craigmount offers one of the largest extra-curricular programmes in Edinburgh and students represent Craigmount in a wide range of competitive and non competitive activities. Details can be found by clicking the link below.
