Head Teacher’s Update
Please find a quick update regarding several areas of school life.
A quick update about our young people returning to the school building. Your child has completed his/her induction and understands the safety measures in place. It was great to see the smiles on the young people as they reconnected with friends or made new ones. A huge thank-you to staff who worked tirelessly to ensure this week has been the positive experience it was for your child.
The induction not only included health and safety but gave the following expectations of the learners at Craigmount:
- On time
- In uniform
- Try your best
- Focus on the learning
Ideally, we are expecting all students to arrive to school wearing:
- White shirt (with collar) or
- white or black polo shirt
- Formal black trousers/skirt/shorts
- Craigmount round neck sweatshirt or black v-neck jumper or cardigan with logo
- Black footwear only
We appreciate the feedback received along with the current circumstances and do not want to add stress to households; so pupils can be presentable in plain school colours (black and white) or Craigmount logo attire.
Please note that we are seeking to have a conversation about uniform and will be discussing this at a future Parent Council meeting.
If students have PE on their timetable, appropriate PE kit should be worn to school as changing is currently unavailable.
A jacket is advised as break & lunch time will be outdoors, as will some travel between classes. Clothes should be laundered daily, as such ties and blazers are not currently expected.
If you need help with school uniform please contact Moira-Anne Jack, Development Officer (Pupil Equity).
We can support in one of the following ways:
- Through our partnership with Edinburgh School Uniform Bank
- Providing items from our Craigmount Second Hand Uniform Bank
All families who are eligible to Free School Meals will have received the uniform grant, if you would like to know more about this please contact Mrs Jack.
have heard the announcement from the Deputy First Minister regarding the SQA
results and that any downgrades will be changed accordingly. Please note there is no further action to be
taken in regarding the SQA appeal process.
New certificates will be with students in due course. The SQA have released a statement which can
be found here.
You may be aware that it is 50 years since Craigmount High School first opened its doors. We are planning to host a celebration event in school, once social distancing measures allow us to do so.
We are also hoping for an Evening News article to mark the occasion next week. Many of our current Craigmount pupils have family members who are former pupils.
If you fall into this category, or know someone who does, fond memories can be shared with the office at email@example.com who will pass it on to the journalist who is writing the article.
A special thank-you
Our new S1 joined us for the first time this week under very different circumstances than previous years. A special mention to Mrs Coull, Pupil Support Leaders and the S1 tutors who took such great care of our new additions to Craigmount.
