For all year groups:

The week of 8 September is going to be our Indigenous Languages Week.

Thursday 26 September is European Day of Languages.

For both of these, we are having a poetry or poster competition.  You can either:

Write a poem about another country or culture and use some words from another language in it.

Write a poem in a language you use at home apart from English. This could be Scots, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic or any language at all.

Create a poster using the same ideas as above.

Please hand this in to a teacher in the ML department by the end of September. There will be certificates and prizes. We are looking for some students to take part in a film competition using more than one language. We would warmly welcome any language learners and any Mother Tongue language speaker apart from English.

Mrs McKerrecher will start Mother Tongue club on a Tuesday lunch time. Here we will share and create work in many different languages, and share cultures and languages across the school. Please attend next Tuesday lunch time if you are interested – Mrs. McKerrecher’s room. This will also involve helping out with the film.
