Career Inspiration Days – March 2019

Edinburgh College is hosting for schools pupils across the region, 4 afternoon events designed to give pupils in S4/S5 or S6 who are planning to study an SCP course the opportunity to attend a workshop to find out more about the course of their choice and take part in activities.

These sessions will run as follows:

Friday 8 March – Midlothian Campus (1.30-4.00pm)

Friday 15 March – Sighthill Campus (1.30-4.00pm)

Friday 22 March – Milton Road Campus (1.30-4.00pm)

WOW – French River Trip

Could all S3 students going on the French River Trip please attend a meeting at break-time on Friday 1st March in Miss Woodhouse’s room (G12). In addition, this is a final reminder to everyone that the 5th and final payment of £160 is due by Friday 8th March at the latest through Parent Pay. Once this payment has been made, the total amount paid should be £780. If there are any issues making this payment or attending the meeting, please see Miss Woodhouse or Miss Arbuckle as soon as possible.

New York/Washington Trip 2020

Could all s2-s4 social subjects students interested in a trip to New York and Washington Dc in October 2020, come to a meeting in G17 with Miss Lawson, Miss Cameron and Mr Gray on Wed 6th March at morning break

Junior Basketball Tournament

S1-S3 are welcome to come to the games hall after school on Wednesday the 6th of March for a competitive basketball tounament in place of the normal basketball club.

World Book Day – Book Swap

We are intending on holding a Book Swap for World Book Day on the 7th March in two weeks’ time at break for both staff and students. If you would like to donate some good quality items (both fiction and information books)  These can be dropped off anytime at the library.  We are looking for items for any age group range!

Calling all avid readers – if you’re interested in reading and discussing books come along to the library and have a chat about an exciting new project! Escape, Connect, Relate

Sutton Trust Summer School 30 June to 5 July 2019.Only 1 month left to make an application!

The Sutton Trust Summer School at the University of St Andrews is held each year in order to give pupils in S5 the chance to experience a week in the life of a university student. It has been proved that this experience, aimed at pupils who fulfil most of the criteria set out in the information material, is of great benefit when applying to competitive universities.

The residential week includes study within academic areas of interest, social activities and advice on UCAS related topics. The week is free of charge and pupils are only required to bring spending money for their personal use.
