S1-S6 Foodbank Awareness

Are you interested in helping your local community? Are you part of the Equalities Group? Would you like to get involved with the foodbank awareness campaign as part of your JASS? Everyone is welcome to come along to a meeting on Thursday 12th September at breaktime in Miss Henderson’s room in Social Subjects (G/22) for more information.

This is a new computing club designed for girls. It will run every Wednesday at lunchtime in room 233, bring your lunch. Open to all girls.

S2 Football Trials:

Could all players interested in trialling for the S2 football squad this year please come along to the PE Games Hall during morning break TODAY.  Important information will be issued so please make sure you attend – trials will be taking place this weekend.

S1 Homework and maths club

Homework club will be held on Wednesday lunchtimes for any pupils in S1 who would like extra support with maths homework or want to try some maths challenges and puzzles. This will start on Wednesday 11/09 and will be held in room 165 (Miss Raine’s room). Feel free to bring lunch with you. rit

For all year groups:

The week of 8 September is going to be our Indigenous Languages Week.

Thursday 26 September is European Day of Languages.

For both of these, we are having a poetry or poster competition.  You can either:

Write a poem about another country or culture and use some words from another language in it.

Write a poem in a language you use at home apart from English. This could be Scots, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic or any language at all.

Create a poster using the same ideas as above.

Please hand this in to a teacher in the ML department by the end of September. There will be certificates and prizes.We are looking for some students to take part in a film competition using more than one language. We would warmly welcome any language learners and any Mother Tongue language speaker apart from English.

Exciting New Junior Drama Club!

We are starting a brand new drama club which will be held every Thursday after school, in the Drama Studio.

If you are in S1 or S2 and you enjoy drama, come along after school next Thursday to SIGN UP or you can speak to a teacher in the drama department for more information.

“S4-S6 Hospitality Open day, 12.09.2019

Come along to the Apex Hotels Open Day to find out how pupils can apply for a space on the upcoming Apex Hotels Pre-Apprenticeship Programme. 

To provide further insight into the Pre-Apprenticeship Programme, Apex Hotels are inviting interested pupils and teachers to an Open Day at the Apex on Thursday 12th September from 10am until 12 noon. The purpose of this session will be for pupils and teachers to understand more about the programme and what it involves as well as have a chance to see inside the hotel.

Opportunity for S4-S6 Students interested in Law: Brodies Career Insight Day. 

The Career Insight Day is designed for S4/S5/S6 students looking to learn more about a career in law. There will be an overview of the firm and pupils will have an opportunity to ask questions to some of the lawyers working at the firm. There will be a number of activities including a mock case scenario, the route to the career in law will be explained and the firm will and provide some top tips for writing CV’s, attending assessment centres and interview techniques.
