Parent Council

The Parent Council is here to work with the school to improve the experience of your children at Craigmount and to represent the views of parents.

We get involved in discussions on many issues, but typical ones include

  • Curriculum and the implementation of Curriculum for Excellence
  • Impact of budget cuts
  • School Improvement Plan
  • Review of report from Head Teacher

We can only represent you if you are actively involved in the life of the school. You can get involved by:

  • Checking the Parent Council page on the website and sending us an email if you have a query;
  • Attending parents evening and other events for parents and speaking to one of us;
  • Coming along to a meeting as an observer without any commitment to join;
  • Supporting fundraising by buying a quiz or raffle ticket or helping at an event such as The Corstorphine Fair:
  • Joining the Parent Council and coming along to 6 meetings a year on a Monday evening.

You may already know one of us in which case feel free to raise any issues with us. The members for the 2017/18 session are:

Corstorphine Fair

Thanks to everyone who contributed time and gifts for our tombola stall at the Corstorphine Fair earlier in June. After costs (e.g. stall hire) we made a fantastic profit of just over £1,500, which is fantastic.  There should be some pictures on our Facebook page in the next few days. A big thank you to Brenda for having the energy and enthusiasm to take on organising the stall and to Gillian and others for putting in the hours sorting out our prizes.

We meet 2 or 3 times each term, on Monday evenings in the school at 7.00pm.

The most recent meeting was our combined AGM and ordinary meeting, held on Monday 28th May 2018 at the school.  Minutes will be published here (see links below) once they have been agreed at the next meeting.

Meetings for 2018/19 are listed below. They all take place on Monday evenings at 7.00pm in the school’s staff room (corridor on left once you’ve entered the school’s concourse).

  • 3 September 2018
  • 8 October 2018
  • 26 November 2018
  • 21 January 2019
  • 11 March 2019
  • 29 April 2019
  • 27 May 2019 – AGM

The last Parent Council Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 28th May 2018, at the school.

The meeting was to review the work of the parent council over the past year, approve the accounts and discuss issues raised by parents.

At the ordinary meeting that followed the AGM, the posts of Chair and Secretary were agreed, with Jane Crewe and Phil Wild continuing in the roles they took on last year.   Vaman Pujari has stood down as Treasurer, so we are looking for someone to fill this post.  Vaman will be in the Council for 2018/19 so could help with a transition; he estimates it takes about 1 hour between each meeting to keep the accounts up to date.

If you are interested in joining the council or even coming in as treasurer then please send an email to

Chair – Jane Crewe

Secretary – Phil Wild

Treasurer – Vacancy
