It has been a busy week for SQA exams with Biology, Accounting, Health & Food Technology, Sociology, Geography and Engineering Science taking place. Once again, initial student feedback has been positive. Our May Programme students have been able to spend part of the programme on outdoor activities (and enjoy the superb weather this week), and it has been pleasing to see their growing confidence about moving into S5. Our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition is also taking place in the sunshine.
During the exam leave, our staff are working hard at making the necessary changes to curriculum and to the National Qualifications in light of government announcements earlier this session.
Today we also welcomed our enhanced P7 transition group, who enjoyed a range of activities in science and music. It is always a great pleasure to speak with young people about to make this important move to secondary. I am very grateful to the extended staff team who make the transition enjoyable for the new S1. We are in constant contact with our cluster primaries in order to learn more about student needs.
I also enjoyed seeing the presentations from the Craigmount Challenge students who worked in groups during the wellbeing week to prepare materials on aspects of life in Edinburgh that interested them. It was good to have such strong parent support in the audience at this event yesterday.
This week the student art team also completed work on the new school badge which has been shared with our uniform suppliers, Borders Embroidery so that we can have this ready in time for the new term. Please be reassured that the wearing of existing branded uniform is absolutely fine until we phase in this change. Once we have consulted further on the new House System names with the Student Council and staff, Mr Pye will put up a website briefing on developments for parents and carers.
I wish you all a very good weekend.
