Dear Parents/Carers

Thanks to the hard work of our janitors and cleaning staff the damage caused by the burst pipe last weekend has mostly been cleared up and the school has operated as usual. The flexibility and hard work of the teams in CDT and Science this week, with staff bases and other equipment affected has also allowed us to minimise any impact on learning. Hopefully all the repairs to the stairwell will be completed soon. We also had a partial power failure on Monday afternoon. This was nothing to do with the building but an external matter and was quickly resolved by the suppliers when they arrived. Some of the Faculty Leaders will also have been in touch about some re-scheduling of assignment work as a result of the snow closures.

It was good speaking to many of you last night at the Senior Phase Information Evening. Mrs Urquhart’s presentation is on the website. Now that the process and timescales have been explained we look forward to working with you to ensure your son/daughter is on the right path for their own future education and work opportunities.

This week Mr Cheyne took an Engineering Challenge team to a competition at Royal High school where they competed in a large field and came second.

Ms Henderson also informs me that our S3 netball team are on the road to defend their Scottish title after beating Balwearie High School 52-28 in the quarter final yesterday. This sees them through to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. Well done girls! Our senior team reached the end of the road in the Scottish Cup after a close defeat to Arbroath on Wednesday. Well done to the girls for reaching the quarter finals and a thanks to Miss Woodhouse for coordinating games.

Please also look out for Tweets connected with the S6 Drama production, Black Comedy. This takes place on the last week of term and tickets have gone on sale.

Mr Pye will be communicating next week about the Easter Revision classes we will run once again during the holiday period.

Meantime, I look forward to seeing S4 parents at the Parent Information Evening next Thursday.
