Dear Parents/ Carers
It was great seeing many of you at the Faculty Awards yesterday evening. Thanks to all the staff who worked hard to make this possible, and of course the students in our wonderful Big Band. In compiling the Head Teacher address for the event it just confirmed for me the huge range of experiences on offer, and sustained, despite all the extra curricular and attainment pressures on staff in recent years. The focus of the event was on the excellent achievement by our senior students, both in the recent SQA exams, and in terms of application and effort, recognised through the faculty DRIVE awards.
Next week, at an event in school, we will also be acknowledging the achievements of those students who could not attend the event as a result of Duke of Edinburgh commitments. This event will also include those students who performed consistently high across all the subjects in their courses.
Some of our senior students also took part in a Transport Consultation at the council last week, an important area where it is crucial the voices of young people are heard. This consultation was facilitated through our Geography department and supported by Ms Henderson.
I also want to flag up once again the two events next week, the S1 numeracy evening on Tuesday, and the S4 evening on Thursday aimed at providing information for parents and carers on how they can better support with the national courses.
I look forward to meeting many of you at these events.
Have a good weekend.
