Term ended well today, and we sent our seniors into the break with clear advice on how to prepare for the forthcoming exams. Mr Pye has made the full Easter revision support programme available on the website. I want to thank our staff for offering this once again, as such a comprehensive programme during the holiday period is not offered at many schools. If your son/daughter has signed up please encourage them to attend, as these final focused revision sessions can make a real difference to exam performance.
The drama practicals also went smoothly this week with the students looking confident and excited about performing. Well done to the drama team for the dedicated way they support the students, and the very high expectations they set.
Mrs Bryce, our Business Manager has asked me to alert you to an important document about online payments which will be on the parent information section of the website shortly. This will be introduced next term and should facilitate financial transactions with the school.
Following the recent successes of our netball teams, our under 15 football team, coached by one of our former pupils David Campbell, has now reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Schools Shield. Games against Deans, Firrhill, Queensferry, Newbattle and Inverurie have been successfully negotiated, and they are now looking forward to the semi-final against either Queen Anne HS or Gryffe HS. A brilliant performance, well done to all the boys.
Finally, today we also said farewell to Mr Rafferty (DHT), and our school librarian, Coral Grant. Mrs Coull will take up the post of Acting DHT after the break, and can be contacted on any matters related to the transition into S1. Mrs Jack will be taking up the position of Acting Curriculum Leader for RME/FCT.
Ms Grant will be replaced by Ms Swan, who will be our new full-time school librarian. My personal highlight of the week was the lively and hugely enjoyable debate in the library to celebrate the fact that Ms Grant has supported debating during the time she has been with us. It was a staff versus students line debate, which the staff won!
