It has been great these past three days to welcome back our students at the assemblies for all year-groups. I also visited a number of S1 classes this morning, and enjoyed hearing about how the week had gone. Our staff have been very impressed with them. We are also aware that some students find transition challenging so please do not hesitate to contact student support staff if you feel there is something we can help with. Our seniors have also been very positive and made a great start to term. As mentioned earlier this week, our exam results have been very strong, improving on performance once again this session. For students who have done better than expected, or perhaps not as well, Mrs Urquhart, DHT, has been reviewing the situation and managing any re-coursing required
As well as welcoming the students in the assemblies, I also shared some pictures and stories of the fantastic Honduras trip over the summer led by Ms Hickinson and Ms Grocott. It seems to have been a great experience for the students and I am looking forward to hearing more about the skills and learning they have gained at future student assemblies. I also met with our new S6 ambassadors and guidance staff. We are really looking forward to how these S6 leaders will help shape school vision in a number of areas and develop ways of supporting younger students and promoting achievement. We tweeted a photograph of some of the group so hopefully you will have seen this.
I am also really pleased the improvements to the front of the office have taken place. These improve accessibility and access and the main entrance now looks very welcoming.
I very much look forward to meeting existing, and new parents in the session ahead. Have a good weekend.
