I want to start by complimenting our new S1 on the fantastic start they have made this week. Staff have been very impressed with the attitude shown. At the first assembly they also looked really smart and eager. We held assemblies for all year groups this week, just to welcome them back and share key expectations. We also highlighted the excellent work done last session on promoting equalities and mental wellbeing in our school community and how we were looking to build on this in the session ahead.
Mrs Urquhart and Mr Raeburn also made a lot of progress with senior coursing changes as a result of exam performance and we have been processing the requests that have come in for remarking or recounts under the Post Results Service arrangements. Please be reassured that we are also actively checking all subjects with Curriculum Leaders and putting forward all students who meet the criteria. Our early analysis indicates that our S4 have really benefited from the move to seven subjects. Those who did not quite manage a National 5 award at this stage will gain a National 4 as faculties had completed the appropriate assessments as a back-up. These are now being submitted and the National 4 awards will be sent out through the SQA on an updated certificate later this term. Our S5 Higher results are also very strong. Most pleasingly, increasing numbers of students at all levels are gaining at least five national awards in courses.
You should also have received the data packs yesterday. I mentioned these earlier this week and would once again ask that you return the data request as soon as possible, and include an email contact. I also want to remind parents (especially S1 parents who may not know this) to avoid the school carpark at the start and the end of the school day. This can become congested and make things tricky for the taxis booked to support students entitled to support with transport. Your co-operation with this is much appreciated.
Have a good weekend.
