I wan to start by thanking all who attended the fantastic Faculty Awards ceremony last night, and in particular all the staff who made it possible. It takes a lot to plan and deliver the event but things ran very smoothly. Our guest speaker and former Craigmount student, Professor Barlow spoke very well and enjoyed the experience. I also want to mention Ms Lawson, who did an amazing job introducing the awards for the first time. Most of all, I want to praise all the students who received awards, both academic and for drive awards.. It was also good to inform the school community that as with last year, one of our students ( J Low in S6) gained the highest mark in Scotland for Physics. We have a brilliant team in physics.
At the event I also mentioned the many students who compete at a high level outside of school in a range of individual sports, and this week I want to mention H Buchanan in S5, who won another Gold medal in karate.
Next week we will be holding S1-3 assemblies led by Mr Pye who will be going over expectations in relation to a Rights Respecting School as part of our drive towards the Gold Award.
There will also be our S1 Literacy/Numeracy parental engagement evening on Thursday 19th which will provide lots of information and advice, as well as a chance to speak with parents and obtain feedback.
The annual History Trip to the Battlefields also sets off, and I know lots of students are really looking forward to this very special experience.
Have a good holiday weekend.
