Our new timetable shift has gone very well this week, with students and staff adjusting quickly to the new timings. I have also had lots of positive feedback from many students on various aspects of their new courses. We have been emphasizing in assemblies that it is important to have some breakfast and/or a break-time snack given the slightly later lunchtime start.
Week 2 of the exams also passed smoothly, with high numbers of students once again attending and benefiting from the subject “Immersion Days”. The exams this week included: English, History, Chemistry and Graphic Communication. One welcome change this year was the separation of the Higher and National 5 English exams. Given the extremely high number of presentations at Craigmount this relieved the pressure on the invigilators, and our pupil support team.
Unfortunately our footballers lost out to Gryffe in under-15 cup semi-final. We wish them well in the League Cup Final on Saturday.
I am also pleased to inform you that Mrs Bryce was successful in her application for the permanent Business Manager post this week, and that Ms T Urquhart (currently at Liberton) will take up the permanent Depute Head Teacher post in August. I am very grateful to the parents, students and staff who contributed to the process.
Finally, we are looking forward to our Week of Wellbeing 17 next week. Many students and staff will be departing over the weekend. There is a full programme on offer and all details are available on the website.
